Lucky Wirral Residents Win Big in Postcode Lottery Draw

2026-06-27

Residents of a Woodchurch street woke up to good news on Sunday morning after learning they were among the latest winners in the People's Postcode Lottery daily draw.

Those living on Meadow Crescent, in the postcode CH49 8HY, were named as winners of the £1,000 daily prize — provided they are signed up to play. As is standard with the Postcode Lottery's structure, anyone holding a ticket registered to that postcode receives the prize, and players who hold two tickets for the address receive double the payout.

How the Postcode Lottery Works

The People's Postcode Lottery is a subscription-based lottery that combines cash prizes for players with fundraising for charitable causes. Players sign up using their home postcode and pay £12 a month, which automatically enters them into the draws. Every single day, 20 different postcodes across the UK are announced as £1,000 winners — meaning every ticket-holder in those postcodes receives the prize, not just a single lucky individual.

Beyond the daily £1,000 prizes, the lottery also runs a weekly Millionaire Street draw, in which one winning postcode shares a prize pot of up to £1 million between all participating tickets in that street, as well as monthly £250,000 prizes and occasional multi-million-pound Postcode Millions draws.

The Charitable Side

Beyond the prize money, the Postcode Lottery's broader appeal rests on its charitable model: at least 30% of every ticket price is donated to good causes. Since the lottery's launch in 2005, players have collectively raised more than £1.7 billion for thousands of charities and community projects across Britain and internationally — supporting organisations including Macmillan Cancer Support, the Dogs Trust, Mind, the NSPCC, and the Alzheimer's Society, alongside countless smaller local community initiatives.

A Recurring Bit of Luck for the Wirral

Meadow Crescent's win adds to a string of recent Postcode Lottery successes across the Wirral peninsula. Just weeks earlier, in early June, residents of CH43 7PW in Prenton banked a £1,000 win of their own, while players on Winchester Drive in Wallasey (CH44 2AY) had previously been named winners earlier in the year — part of what local coverage has described as a continuing "streak" for CH-postcode areas across Cheshire and the Wirral.

For Meadow Crescent residents holding a ticket, the practical next step is straightforward: winners who pay by Direct Debit or have already registered their bank details will have their prize money transferred automatically within 28 days. Anyone who hasn't yet registered banking details can call the Postcode Lottery's customer service line to arrange payment.
