Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE): Current Job Openings
Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE) is a Nigerian, women-led, faith-based, not-for-profit NGO founded in 2004 by Josephine Ogazi and Joseph Egwuonwu. It began as a community-based organization in Okigwe, Imo State, providing scholarships and economic empowerment to widows and orphans, and has since grown into a nationally registered NGO (CAC/IT/NO33132) with its headquarters in Abuja. Its mission centers on empowering widows, orphans, and vulnerable persons through advocacy, capacity building, economic empowerment, and human rights programming, with a stated vision of "a society without vulnerable persons."
What's Currently OpenAs of my check of WEWE's official careers page, the only active listing shown in the site's Vacancies menu is:
Compliance Associate — Based in Abuja. The listing links directly to an application form (a Google Form), rather than a standard job description page, so I wasn't able to retrieve the specific deadline, qualifications, or full job description text from that page directly.
Other recent postings on the same page, Legal Associate, Finance Officer, Project Driver, Organizational Development Subject Matter Associate, and a Board Member recruitment, have already expired (for example, the Legal Associate role closed March 31, 2026), so those are no longer accepting applications.
How to Apply (General Process)Based on WEWE's consistent application format across past listings:
- Visit weweng.org/jobs directly to see the live, current listing.
- Prepare your CV and a cover letter combined into one single MS Word document (this is a hard requirement WEWE repeats across all its listings).
- Clearly indicate the position title in your application/email subject line.
- Applications are typically reviewed in batches on a first-come, first-served basis, so earlier submission is generally advised.
- WEWE explicitly states it reserves the right to close recruitment early once a suitable candidate is found, even before the stated deadline.
WEWE's own job postings include a standing anti-corruption notice: applicants are advised never to offer or accept money, favors, or gifts from anyone claiming it will help secure a position with WEWE, and to report any such solicitation directly to WEWE management via their listed WhatsApp line. Given how many recruitment scams circulate around legitimate-sounding NGO job openings in Nigeria, that's a useful thing to keep in mind, and a good reason to apply only through weweng.org directly rather than third-party job aggregator sites.
